Salman Khan has time and again proved just how versatile an actor he is and that the Bollywood film industry is lucky to have such a huge star like him. Be it his macho look or his dancing style or his smile you will always love something particular about this Khan.
With his entire share of ups and downs, he still managed to conquer and capture the hearts of people with his electrifying roles and down to earth fascination in the film industry.
Here are this superstar’s most iconic roles.
Maine Pyaar Kiya
This movie shot Salman to stardom, and deservedly so. This was the film that won Salman his iconic on-screen name, Prem. It’s unfortunate that bubblegum romances like Maine Pyaar Kiya don’t get made so often anymore. Salman and Bhagyashree’s performances in this movie redefined cuteness, and we still go back to the songs whenever we need to stop adulating and feel like a teenager.
Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s directorial debut flick, Khamoshi: The Musical was an emotional love story of Salman and Manisha Koirala. Imagine getting a stuck-in-a-mould Salman Khan to do a Khamoshi. A romance drama that warmed our hearts with some stupendous performances from its lead actors. Salman stood out despite having powerhouses like Manisha Koirala, Nana Patekar and Seema Biswas in the same frame. Salman deliver an honest role, which gives perfect depiction of a passionate lover, sure cast a spell on us moviegoers.
Hum Aapke Hain Koun!
Salman extended the role of “the” lover boy Prem once again in this movie. With Madhuri Dixit as the female lead, they created a remarkable chemistry on the silver screen. The film won 5 Filmfare Awards and 1 National Award along with being the biggest Hindi movie hit in the film industry. Salman’s performance was highly appreciated in the film.
Despite Sanjay Dutt and Madhuri Dixit being the lead pair in the film, Salman Khan stole the show with his amazing act of Aakash, who is flamboyant playboy, but also a kind-hearted soul. The way he performs in the climax of the film will truly make you feel for his character.
Andaz Apna Apna
Although Salman Khan shared the screen with Aamir Khan in this one, both actors delivered one of the best performances of their respective careers. The character Prem, shone again on the screen with all his iconic dialogues. Most heroines would kill to share the chemistry that Salman had with Aamir Khan in this film. Right from his ooi maas, to his performance in Yeh Raat aur Yeh Doori – everything about this film is memorable and needs repeat viewing until the day we die.
Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam
Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s romantic drama still impresses our minds. The film is a perfect love story which carved niche audiences for him. Salman played the role of Sameer, a character who was a powerhouse of several emotions. With Salman giving one of his best standout performances and Aishwarya Rai as the leading lady, they both shared an exceptionally great chemistry onscreen, which will be enjoyed by the audiences for many more years to come.
The main highlight of this movie was Salman’s performance in the song Tadap Tadap Ke. Indeed, unrequited love is the sharpest pain a man can experience, and Salman seems to be going through that pain in this song.
No one expected Salman Khan to deliver such a sensitive performance with such an ease on the silver screen. Although it was a tragic movie, it sure gave his acting skills a new name and recognition. He played the role of Radhey Mohan and positioned himself as an emotional character which was something very different from the lover boy performances he played in the past.
The movie may have glorified stalking, but that doesn’t take away the fact that it was one of Salman’s most iconic performances. He absolutely nailed the madness, the desire and the obsession that a lover like Radhe could go through.
Tiger Zinda Hai
He was paired with Katrina Kaif and played an Indian spy in the movie. A scintillating chemistry with Katrina earned a lot of positive reactions for the film. The movie gained strong box office collections. Both Salman and Katrina gave action packed performances which once again proved Salman as a wholesome entertainer.
Talking about, Sultan, the wrestling drama was more of action than performance-driven. But this film still finds a place in this list, specifically for that one scene where Salman sees his over-sized stomach in the mirror and cries, but gets motivated to enter the ring again and fight.
One of the best performances given by Salman Khan is in “Bajrangi Bhaijaan”. In the film Salman brought his natural emotional caliber! In Bajrangi, we saw a Salman of the heydays, a charismatic actor who is not afraid of walking the distance. This one is the emotional film which is full of sentiments, emotions, pleasant and a truly gripping tale – all thanks to Khan’s ‘real’ depiction of the titular character.
