15 Bollywood Biopics That Failed At The Box Office Miserably

Whenever we hear about some upcoming biopic , it’s a great feeling as we all have already witnessed numerous superb biopics as an audience.But this does not always happens and it’s the matter of the fact that not all biopics are much loved.

Check out some of the biopics which had a good script but rejected by the audience:

1 Mangal Pandey

Mangal Pandey was an important part when it came to first war of Indian independence in the year 1847. Biopic was made for the same and Aamir Khan was in the lead role. But unfortunately, the movie didn’t do really well at the box office.

2 Daddy

Biopic based on the gangster Arun Gawli, who was an important name of the underworld. The 65 YO ‘s nick name is daddy .Actor Arjun Rampal portrayed the lead role in the movie. But it failed to perform well at the box office.

3 Main Or Charles

Randeep Hooda has always maintained the aura of a versatile actor . From playing the character of a coach in Sultan to his superb transformation in Sarabjit, he has won many hearts. Movie Main or Charles , a biopic based on the Charles Sobhraj , who is a French thief and a fraudster of Indian and Vietnamese origin. He had committed many murders and was thus convicted in jail for a long time.  However, this movie did not perform well at the box office and was a flop.

4 Veerappan

This biopic by Ram Gopal Verma was based on the gangster Veerappan. This dacoit was famous for kidnapping the big politicians for a ransom amount. He was involved in abducting some famous personalities like actor Rajkumar and the former minister of Kannada N. Nagappa. Sandeep Bhardwaj acted in the lead role of Veerappan but the movie failed to cast its magic on the audiences.

5. Rakta Charitra

Actor Vivek Oberoi played the lead role in the biopic of gangster Parilata Ravindra, from Andra Pradesh who had committed many murders. This gangster was murdered later by the political rivals in the year 2005. There were 2 parts for the movie and Vivek oberoi was much appreciated for his performance. But unfortunately, the movie didn’t get hit at the box office.

6. Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Sey

Biopic based on Surya Sen and directed by Ashutosh Gorawiker was not liked by the audience at all

7. Thackeray

The biopic based on the life of BalaSaheb Thackrey and directed by Abhijit Panse , titled Thackeray . Actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui had acted well in this movie but the movie did not perform well at the Box office.

8. Taj Mahal: An Eternal Love Story

A 2005 biopic, directed by Akbar Khan and is based on the story of the Mughal Dynasty. The movie had Kabir Bedi, Sonya Jehan and Manisha Koirala, Arbaaz Khan and Pooja Batra in the lead roles. Despite being a multi-starer movie it became a flop.

9. Rang Rasiya

This is based on the story of the Indian painter Raja Ravi Varma who painted God in human form. He was considered one of the best artist of his era. His creations were unique as he erotically portrayed the mythological characters. The trailer of the biopic had created a lot of hype but the movie became a flop due to the late release.

10. Azhar

The movie directed by Tony D’Souza was based on the story of the former Indian team captain Mohammad Azharuddin. Emraan Hashmi was seen in the lead role of the movie. Many parts were proved to be fictious and that’s why the movie was a flop.

11. Sarbjit

Sarbjit was based on the biopic of Sarabjit Singh, who was wrongly accused of terrorism and spying and had spent twenty-two years in prison in Pakistan. This is considered as the best biopic by Randeep Hooda where the actor had gone through a tremendous metamorphosis of his body to fit into the skin of the character. Randeep had reportedly lost eighteen kgs in just twenty-eight days. Despite his sincere effort this film failed to become a hit as the scenes were too dramatic.

12. Hawaizaada

Ayushmann Khurrana played the lead role in movie Hawaizaada . The biopic based on Indian inventor Shivkar Bapuji Talpade who has created a flying machine like Airplane before Wright brothers. Although Ayushmann is a superb actor but this movie was not liked by the audience and became a flop.

13. 23rd March 1931: Shaheed

This biopic was based on the biopic of Indian freedom fighter Bhagat Singh. Like the other movies listed in this list, this biopic also failed to do well.

14. Anna

Anna Hazare biopic

Social activist Anna Hazaare is a popular icon for everyone. The biopic based on his life titled Anna did not grab much attention by the audience.

15. Haseena Parkar

Who was Haseena Parkar? The woman Shraddha Kapoor is playing in her next -  bollywood - Hindustan Times

The biopic is based on Dawood’s sister Haseena. Shraddha Kapoor played the lead role of Parker but the audience did not like the movie and it was a flop.
