Today presenting you the story of a small town girl ,who dreamt of becoming a pilot and succeed in doing the same. Without proper investments in hands she proved that if there is a will ,there is a way .
Coming from Malkangiri, a Maoist-hit district in Odisha , 27-year-old Anupriya Lakra ,with her hard work and dedication, made her family and entire state proud by becoming the first tribal woman pilot.
She always wanted to persue that profession and for that, she gave up engineering in mid-sem and joined an aviation academy in Bhubaneswar in 2012.
Anupriya’s father, who is a havildar in the state police department told Times of India: “I am very proud of my daughter. Since childhood, she wanted to make it big in life and today she has succeeded in doing so. All the credit goes to her hard work and to her mother who stood by her through thick and thin.”
Now Anupriya will soon be flying commercial planes. One of the messages was from Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik who gave his hearty wishes to her and said that it will set a great example for others too
It took her seven hard working years and an she faced lots of hurdles to achieve this. Anupriya’s mother said, “Though we faced several financial constraints, we never allowed that to come in the way of our children’s education. I allowed my daughter to chase her dream and supported her all through.”
“I will urge all parents to support their daughters and the choices they make in life and career.” she further added.
Anupriya will initally be posted in Singapore.We wish this young pilot a very bright future ahead.
