A role in Hollywood is considered to be the holy grail when it comes to the entertainment industry. While we understand the big deal about these crossover projects, some of them just sound fancier than they are. Many Bollywood stars have appeared in Hollywood movies but, their role was minute enough to be missed easily.
Check out ten blink-and-miss appearances by Bollywood celebrities in Hollywood movies that beget the question: Were they even there?
1- Ali Fazal – Furious 7 (Screen Time: <100 Seconds)
After much ado on social media about Ali Fazal starring in the much-famed Fast & Furious Franchise, his appearance turned out to be not even that of an Indian character! He played Zafar, the middle-eastern garage owner who helped Vin Diesel’s team in a mission. His role lasts for less than 100 seconds of screen time.
2- Anil Kapoor – Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol (Screen Time: <165 Seconds)
It truly irks us to see actors as good as Anil Kapoor reduced to a mere token appearance in Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol, when he is capable of so much more! We saw him as Brij Nath in the film who played hide and seek for most of his screen time and then ended up unconscious in his bedroom literally a couple of minutes later.
3- Irrfan Khan – Jurassic World (Screen Time: <250 Seconds)
After doing some great work in movies like The Namesake and Life of Pi, late actor Irrfan Khan was cast as Simon Masrani, who showed up for a couple of seconds at the beginning of the film and then during the third act only to die.
He had a similar screen presence in The Amazing Spider-Man in which he shares the frame with Rhys Ifans for a few scenes before ending up dead on the Brooklyn Bridge.
4- Amitabh Bachchan – The Great Gatsby(Screen Time: <275 Seconds)
The legendary actor of Indian cinema, Amitabh Bachchan also tried his luck in Hollywood but had to feel satisfied with a blink-and-miss cameo in the movie The Great Gatsby. Amitabh Bachchan as Meyer Wolfsheim, a Jewish gambler was self-admittedly a role for literally a minute! Go and get popcorn, and you might just miss this one.
Even while promoting the film on Twitter, Big B wrote: “The Great Gatsby official opening film for Cannes Film festival, May 15th…come one come all…half blink and you miss role for me (sic).”
5- Pankaj Tripathi – Extraction (Screen Time: <55 Seconds)
Pankaj Tripathi, who is among the most sought-after actors of Bollywood, was given very limited screen time in the movie Extraction. Playing the role of an Indian gangster whose son was abducted in the movie, Tripathi appeared for less than a minute’s role in the movie.
