Several celebrities have been toiling for the sake of the environment, and to make this planet a better place for everyone. Apart from their active participation and efforts, we must also credit them for strengthening the dialogue about saving the environment.

UN Environment Goodwill Ambassador for India Dia Mirza has been at the forefront of endorsing campaigns to save the earth. She is passionate about working to save the planet from the threat of global warming and climate change. The 35-year-old actor has actively taken part in habitat preservation as well as wildlife protection in the past. Dia Mirza’sillustrious career is well matched with her endeavors for the greater good.
In 2016 Aamir Khan alongwith his wife Kiran Rao set up Paani Foundation with the mission of making rural Maharashtra drought-free and prosperous. They not only get down to work on the fields themselves but also safeguard the villagers and environment’s future by educating people on how to tackle and avoid the issue of drought in the villages.
Abhishek Bachchan too has been an active participant in working towards climate change. Believing that the youth can bring a difference in tackling climatic issues, the actor won the Green Globe award in 2012 for his outstanding efforts towards an environmental cause. He was honoured by Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Like father, like son. Not only Abhishek Bachchan, Amitabh is also fighting to save the environment from climate change. He partnered with Global Cool an International Indian Film Academy in order to build awareness about India’s vulnerability to climate change. Furthermore, he has also joined the moment to reduce the use of vehicles and air-conditioners while shooting of films.
Being the one of the first few celebrities from Bollywood to become the Oxfam Global ambassador in 2007, Rahul Bose has been an active voice against climate change, global warming and other environmental mishappenings. He closely works with a cluster of social, environmental organisations, and also has his own NGO that works diligently towards making this world a better place.
Gul Panag has been actively working on practical solar and rain harvesting systems. In fact, she also formulated a “green home” by effectively employing water harvesting and solar power energy instead of exhaustive resources. She is actively been a part of Col. Shamsher Singh Foundation and Gul 4 Change which work for basic sanitation, proper waste disposal and effective employment of natural energy resources.
Akshay Kumar has not only been taking on social causes via his films like Toilet: Ek Prem Katha and Padman, but otherwise as well the man has taken a stand. Promoting the Swachh Bharat initiative, Akshay has paired up with BMC to promote cleanliness in Mumbai. The actor also featured in the song ‘Hawa Aane De’ for World Environment Day to prevent air pollution and spread awareness.
