One of the main things that makes a movie work is the chemistry the lead pair shares. Over the years, there have been multiple movies that have gone on to become superhits simply because the lead pair were adorable, and practically nothing else. In this scenario, actors who don’t have chemistry stand out even more. From cringeworthy romantic scenes, to awkward dialogue delivery and, often, odd body language, a lack of onscreen chemistry can pretty much spoil the entire movie.
We’ve listed seven such pairs that were so wrong, we don’t even know whom to blame.
Bobby Deol and Sonam Kapoor (Thank You)
With a name like that, you can instantly imagine what the film is like. Bobby and Sonam play a married pair and you immediately know why their marriage is having so many problems. Sonam fails miserably as the nagging wife and her frustration with the blah character unfortunately shows a little too much onscreen!
Priyanka Chopra and Uday Chopra (Pyaar Impossible)
No body can explain why this pairing or this movie ever happened. Ummm no… no… JUST NO!
Rajnikanth and Aishwarya Rai (Robot)
Rajnikanth had a double role in this, as an inventor and as a robot. The movie is fun, the concept sells because it’s Rajnikanth, and Aishwarya looks gorgeous. But, chemistry… ain’t nobody got time for that in this film!
Vidya Balan and Shahid Kapoor (Kismat Konnection)
Two fabulous actors and one horribly tragic film. From the plot to the songs, nothing made sense, and the awkward onscreen chemistry between Shahid and Vidya just made it worse. Don’t even get us started on those songs… and the fashion… Ugh!
Shazahn Padamsee and Ajay Devgan (Dil To Bachcha Hai Ji)
Before the movie released, there were rumours about how Shazahn was not too sure about doing this film. Once we watched the movie, we knew exactly why. Even though this is a love story that never takes off, the super awkward vibe between a boss and his employee was painful to watch on-screen.
Daisy Shah and Salman Khan (Jai Ho)
We cringed while watching the truly awkward romantic number ‘Tere Naina Maar Hi Daalenge’. It’s a great song, but the leads look positively uncomfortable with each other. Maybe it’s the fact that it was Daisy’s first film, and that too with Salman, which added to the discomfort…
Shahid Kapoor and Deepika Padukone (Padmaavat)
Blame Ranveer Singh for this! After seeing Deepika and Ranveer’s amazing chemistry in the last two Sanjay Leela Bhansali films, this new pairing was a total letdown. They both looked amazing and they really made an effort, but somehow the vibes between Shahid – who falls in love with Padmavati on a hunting trip – and Deepika just seem forced.
