Sequels in general, are a great way to take a story forward and show us the next chapter in the lives of the characters we once adored so much.
However, Bollywood has a tendency to ruin sequels for us. Masti,Kyaa Kool Hain Hum and Bheja Fry are just some of the examples of movies (naming any more will bring back a lot of scarred memories) which should just have been left alone. And just for the sake of our own sanity, let’s not even discuss the Housefull series.
We’ve loved some movies for ages now and we are only wondering if a sequel to them will ever get to see the light of day, but hoping for one doesn’t harm, right?
Here are a few sequels we would like Bollywood to work on.
1- Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani
Let’s admit it, Bunny’s life as a vagabond, travel journalist shaped many a youngsters film-making and journalism dreams, not to mention Bunny and Naina’s love story was one for the books. What happens after they’re finally united? Even Deepika wants to know! (she mentioned it in an interview)
2- Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara
Three childhood best friends, go on a bachelor road trip to Spain, overcome their fears, unfold the mystery of their respective live and bring the needed change, now these are the aspects of ‘Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara’ a film that one can watch on repeat!
Say whatever you all want but this movie gave us ultimate travel goals. With an outstanding cast, this movie got us mantally in love with it!
3- Ae Dil Hai Mushkil
It’s musical. It’s romantic. It’s dramatic. Helmed by Karan Johar, the movie is based on the concept of unrequited love. Apart from having a stellar starcast, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil had some picturesque locations as well.
It would be interesting to see if Ranbir eventually does fall in love with someone, at all.
4- 3 Idiots
Aamir Khan’s block buster broke box-office records like never before when it released, and if a sequel were to be made with the same cast, we’re sure it would really create waves. Excitingly, Aamir has said that a sequel is likely to be made. We can’t wait to see what Raju, Farhan and Rancho have been up to all these years!
Bollywood needs more of such films and why not? Also aren’t you curious to know if Rani finds true love? We would love to see what Rani does with her newfound independence and confidence. Does she take over the business world? Does she have a healthy relationship?
With Aamir Khan in one his quirky role, playing a humanoid alien. It was an amazing family entertainer with subtle messages. With the way the movie ended, one does hope that we get to see a sequel soon.
PK ends as Aamir Khan’s character brings Ranbir Kapoor’s character on Earth. It would be really interesting to see both of them having fun on Earth together in the sequel.
7- Jab We Met
We know Geet and Aditya are united, get married and even have daughters, but if we’re being totally honest, we really want to see how Geet would fare as a mother! Bet that would make for a really entertaining film, isn’t it?
8- Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge
The film that defines romance and drama is certainly on everyone’s favourite list. We saw Simran and Raj meet, fight, fall in love and then fight again, but with the typical traditional family for their undying love and to be together. Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol starrer film ‘Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge’ directed by Aditya Chopra certainly deserves a sequel.
Bollywood, are you listening?
P.S: This is obviously not an exhaustive list. Which movie would you want to see a sequel of?
