9 Famous Cricketers Who Have Gone To Jail For Different Crimes

Cricketers enjoy a special status in India. they have a   big fan following . But some times they disappointed their fans with their immoral work.
Frequently we have heard of cricketers’ issues by being involved in cricket related scandals or off-field disputes.

Right from Navjot Singh Sidhu to S Sreesanth, there are   several cricketers who have gone to jail for reasons aplenty.

In 2006 the Punjab and Haryana court sentenced cricketer and commentator Navjot Singh Sidhu to 3 years in jail and a fine of Rs 1 lakh. Apparently in 1988, Sidhu was with his two friends when the duo had harsh violence on an old man that led to his death. The Pakistani batsman . Ijaz ahmed  had to stay in prison for a few days after a cheque of Rs 1 crore signed by him bounced.

Luke Pomersbach

The Australian batsman had to spend one night in prison for molesting a woman during IPL.

Umar Akmal

The Pakistani batsman kamran Akmal spent a few hours in jail after messing with the traffic police in Lahore.

Phil Tufnel

Spinner Phil TufnelL was arrested for misbehaving with a waitress and had to spend one night in jail.

Chris Lewis

Former England all-rounder Chris Lewis was found guilty for trying तो smuggle the cocaine in England. He was sent to jail for 13 years.

All the three Pakistani cricketers were sentenced to jail for their involvement in a match fixing scandal. While butt was sentenced for two and a half years, the other two were sentenced for one year and six months respectively.
