Sucks to have your personal belongings stolen, right? Of course, it is. Especially when it is your hard-earned cash.
Turns out, an empathetic thief in China understood this and returned the cash to a woman instantly after robbing her and checking her bank balance at an ATM.
He returned the money to the woman after he realised that her bank balance was almost zero.
Based on the surveillance camera footage from inside the ICBC bank, a woman surnamed Li was making an ATM withdrawal when a man suddenly threatened her with a knife, demanding money.
Li handed over the 2,500 yuan to the man. Not satisfied with the stolen amount, the thief promptly asked her to show her bank balance to him in hopes of retrieving more cash from her.
However, after checking her account balance, he realised that she had no money left.
Out of pity he handed the money back to her and left. But that gesture was not enough to escape arrest. Identified as Mr Deng, local authorities eventually caught and detained him for armed robbery.
