After offering to coach Hardik Pandya to make him ‘world’s best all-rounder’, former Pakistan all-rounder Abdul Razzaq has now targeted number one ranked speedster Jasprit Bumrah, calling him a ‘baby bowler’ he would have ‘easily dominated’.
For someone who first grabbed eyeballs for his unorthodox action, Jasprit Bumrah has undeniably come a long way to become one of the most consistent and effective bowlers across all formats. Today, he is not only considered a key part of the dominating Indian brigade, but the fact that he is currently the No. 1 bowler in the list of ICC ODI rankings further shows his consistency with the ball.
While some of the most respected voices in international cricket continue to sing his praise, Bumrah’s achievements and bowling skills mean little to Abdul Razzaq.
Ignoring the Indian bowling spearhead’s accomplishments over the years, the former Pakistani cricketer claimed that he would have easily dominated Bumrah before calling him a ‘baby bowler’.
Once a key all-rounder in the Pakistani team’s set-up, Razzaq played 46 Tests, 265ODIs and 32 T20Is for his country. But, for someone who claims he will have no problems taking on Bumrah, especially after facing bowlers like McGrath, Akram or Akhtar, Razzaq, sadly, retired with an average of less than 30 across formats.
Thus, he did his reputation no good with his baseless comments regarding Bumrah. But, while Razzaq is entitled to his opinion, Indian cricket fans, for quite obvious reasons, didn’t shy away from taking the Pakistani great to the task on social media.
