Akshay Kumar on Monday received severe criticism from netizens for not casting his vote held for six Lok Sabha seats in Mumbai.
While the fourth phase of the Lok Sabha Elections 2019 took place on Monday, several Bollywood celebs cast their vote. And while many Bollywood actors visited the poll booth on Monday, the sight of Akshay Kumar was no where to be found.
In fact, even his wife Twinkle Khanna was spotted at the polling booth in Bandra.
Recently, Akshay Kumar was asked by a journalist about not voting and the actor brushed him off by simply ignoring.
When a reporter asked the actor, during a special screening of Karan Kapadia’s Blank, Akshay dodged the question and said, “Chaliye beta.”
Akshay Kumar had a ‘completely non-political’ interview with PM Modi just a few days back.
Akshay was trolled after Twinkle was spotted casting her vote for the Lok Sabha elections and this raised questions of Akshay’s longtime debate of whether or not he holds Canadian citizenship.
Last month Modi had tagged Akshay in a tweet, asking him to encourage voting.
To which, Akshay had responded saying that “true hallmark of a democracy lies in peoples participation in the electoral process. Voting has to be a superhit prem katha between our nation and its voters.”
The actor has established his image as Bollywood’s posterboy of patriotism with films like Kesari, Toilet – Ek Prem Katha, Padman and Airlift.
Akshay’s reply drew flak from netizens on social media. Here’s what they tweeted:
