Shilpa Shetty Kundra is the latest but she is not the first one to opt for surrogacy. There are a lot of Bollywood celebrities who have beautiful babies through surrogates. This method is a boon for couples who are unable to conceive naturally and singles who want to have their biological babies. We can see an array of such celebrities in the B-Town who embraced parenthood through surrogacy, here are some of them.
On Feb 15th, Shilpa Shetty Kundra and husband Raj Kundra welcomed a baby girl in their family. The couple broke the news on their Instagram handles on 21st Feb. Her daughter has been born through surrogacy.
“Our prayers have been answered with a miracle… With gratitude in our hearts, we are thrilled to announce the arrival of our little angel, Samisha Shetty Kundra, born: February 15, 2020,” Shetty Kundra posted, along with a picture of the baby’s hand. “‘Sa’ in Sanskrit is “to have”, and ‘Misha’ in Russian stands for “someone like God”…. Please bestow our angel with all your love and blessings.”
The couple already has a son Viaan Raj Kundra.
Shah Rukh Khan
Shah Rukh Khan’s cute AbRam was also born via surrogacy. SRK and wife Gauri Khan, who were already parents to Aryan and Suhana Khan, opted for surrogacy for AbRam in 2013. AbRam is nowadays setting the internet on fire with his cute and adorable pictures.
“Four years ago, my lovely wife Gauri and me decided to have a third child. It was claimed on the net that this child was the love child of our first child, Aryan Khan, who was 15 years old. Apparently, he had sowed his wild oats with a girl while driving his car in Romania. And yeah there was a fake video to go with it. And we were so disturbed as a family. My son who is 19 now, even when you say hello to him he says, ‘But bro, I didn’t even have a European driving license’,” Khan said shutting down the rumours that it was his son Aryan Khan’s love-child with a Romanian girl who they adopted as their own.
After adopting a girl and naming her Nisha Kaur Webber, Sunny Leone and her husband Daniel Webber decided to opt for surrogacy to give birth to two more boys named Asher Singh Weber and Noah Singh Weber in March of 2018. The couple had been trying for surrogacy for a few years and finally succeeded and the actress was very happy about completing her family.
“God’s Plan!! June 21st, 2017 was the day @dirrty99 and I found out that we might possible be having 3 children within a short amount of time. We planned and tried to have a family and after so many years our family is now complete with Asher Singh Weber, Noah Singh Weber and Nisha Kaur Weber. Our boys were born a few weeks ago but were alive in our hearts and eyes for many years. God planned something so special for us and gave us a large family. We are both the proud parents of three beautiful children. Surprise everyone!,” the couple posted on their social media handles.
Aamir Khan and his second wife, Kiran Rao, opted for surrogacy in 2011 as Kiran couldn’t conceive the natural way. After Dr. Firuza, their family doctor, suggested surrogacy, they decided to explore this option. Through surrogacy, Azad was born. Later, Kiran convinced Aamir that they needed to be open to the public about their decision as they had nothing to feel embarrassed about.
“This baby is especially dear to us because he was born to us after a long wait and some difficulty,” they wrote, referring to Rao’s earlier miscarriage. “We were advised to have a baby through IVF-surrogacy, and we feel very grateful to the Almighty that all has gone well.”
Filmmaker Karan Johar welcomed his twins Yash Johar and Ruhi Johar on February 7, 2017 through surrogacy. Karan has chosen to be single and thus fatherhood had become a question mark for him. But, with modern science and technology, his desire to become a father has been answered. The director said that he will also be reducing his time to socialise and take up other works to ensure that the twins get all the needed love and care. The director is currently trying to spend a lot of time with his kids.
Tusshar Kapoor is the single parent to his surrogate son, Laksshya, as the actor, who is above the age of 40, didn’t marry. Given the actor’s marital status, it feels justified that Tusshar opted for surrogacy.
“Initially, my parents were a little bit apprehensive whether I should announce the child to be one born through IVF and surrogacy or not. Because they were like, ‘you don’t know how it is going to be taken in India, why even announce it, why don’t you just tell friends, then the friends will tell more friends’,” Kapoor told in an interview.
Following the footsteps of younger brother Tusshar, Ekta Kapoor has opted for surrogacy and become a mother to a baby boy. Ekta’s baby Ravie, was born on January 27,2019 and is perfectly healthy.
Kangana Ranaut’s sister Rangoli Chandel announced to adopt a girl, the same day Shilpa Shetty welcomed her second child, through surrogacy.
