Bollywood Stars And Their Ancestral Houses In Pakistan. Have You Ever Seen Them?

Though there’s a great political difference between India and Pakistan but apart from sharing a common language and culture, one thing that we share, is a love for films. Many of our Bollywood celebs have their roots in Pakistan. From Dilip Kumar to Shah Rukh Khan, these Bollywood celebs have a connection with Pakistan.

Let’s have a look at their ancestral homes in Pakistan:

Dev Anand

Although Dev Anand was born in Shakargarh, his family later moved on to this house in Lahore where he spent most of his teenage days. He completed his graduation in English from Government College in Lahore. He always considered Lahore an important part of his life. In 1999, he visited his ancestral house in Lahore.

Rajesh Khanna

There is always a confusion upon his place of birth. Some say he was born in Amritsar, Punjab while some say that he was instead born in Burewala, Pakistan. His father Lala Hiranand Khanna was the first headmaster of MC School, Burewala. In 1948, his father along with his family moved to Amritsar.

Sanjay Dutt

Both of Sanjay’s parents are from Pakistan. While the ancestors of his mother Nargis Dutt was from Rawalpindi, his father Sunil Dutt was born in Jhelum, Pakistan. Sunil Dutt shifted India in early 1940’s.

Shah Rukh Khan

King of Bollywood, SRK’s father, Taj Mohammad Khan was born in Peshawar, Pakistan. The house in which his father spent his days is still there. In fact SRK’s cousin lives there in that house.

Dilip Kumar

Yusuf Khan popularly known as Dilip Kumar was born in Peshawar, Pakistan. His ancestral house where he spent his initial days is in Peshawar’s Qissa Khawani Bazaar.

In 2013, Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif ordered the ministry of national heritage to take over the building and restore it. A year later, the building was declared as a heritage monument. However, in 2017 a part of the house collapsed and it is presently being used a dumping ground by the neighborhood people.
