The country celebrated the 150th birth anniversary of the father of our nation- Mahatma Gandhi. We all know Bapu’s role in India’s freedom struggle and on this occasion, the world’s tallest skyscraper extraordinarily honoured him.
Burj Khalifa in Dubai was lit up in the tricolour and also displayed images of Bapu on his birthday.
In fact, Burj Khalifa honoured Bapu last year as well on his 149th birth anniversary, and showcased some of his famous sayings like, ‘Be the change you wish to see in the world,’ ‘Non-violence is the virtue of the strong,’ ‘Poverty is the worst form of violence.”
We also saw Air India paying tribute to Gandhi ji by painting his portrait on the tail of an Airbus A320 aircraft at the Indira Gandhi International Airport.
The painting was a representation of Bapu leading the Dandi March.
“This is the first time in India it has happened. This is our way to send a message of Gandhi Ji to the world. In future, one aircraft of each model of Air India aircraft fleet will have a portrait of Gandhi Ji on the aircraft tail,”Air India CMD Ashwani Lohani said.
