Advocate Sudhir Kumar Ojha filed a petition and an order was passed by Chief Judicial Magistrate Surya Kant Tiwari to lodge a case regarding the same. Ojha reported “The CJM had passed the order on 20 August, accepting my petition upon the receipt of which an FIR was lodged today at the Sadar police station here,“.

The petition alleged that the nearly 50 signatories “tarnished the image of the country and undermined the impressive performance of the Prime Minister” besides “supporting secessionist tendencies”.

The letter had stressed that there was “no democracy without dissent” and the lynchings of Dalits, Muslims and other minorities must be stopped immediately.
