How two 21-year-olds made Rs 20 crore in 2 years selling t-shirts

Two students of NIFT Praween KR and Sindhuja K Young Trenz target for fashion crazy. They set up their own brand and sold 25000 units on flipcart in five days during the festive season.

They are student of NIFT Praween belongs to Bihar and Sindhuja belongs to Hydrabad. During the seventh semester of knitwear design bachelor course at National Institute of Fashion Technology in Chennai and they decided to start their own something.

During 2015 the online business is just like a hot cake so they decided to start their own clothing brand Young Trenz in September with the investment of 10 lakhs. And they registered their brand on Amazon Flipcart Voonik Paytm and launched their own website. Their business was developing in a good way and they participated in the college event and sold their branded T-shirt.

They narrated that they started their selling with the 10 order per day and day by day we were collaborating with more than 100 colleges across the country with customized T-shirt including IIT and IIM.

The startup was 1000 and now generated GMV 20 crore with o VC funding.

From Chennai to Tirupur

As young Trenz grew, they need product development channel which was possible only in Tirupur because it was the hub of knitwear. After shifting here they could manufacture quality product.

But they found the problem that they don’t know Tamil so at starting stage they found some problems but in terms of benefit they were happy in product development.

They got the quality product by the right people with the skill in garments Industry side by side we got the talented IT professional Coimbatore for online operation. Logistic was not a big issue.

As the name indicates that this brand is for the youngsters and the tag line : stay young and live Trendy. The segment of this brand was youth. They monitor trending things on social media because it is a herculean task to be remain on the top in the cut throat competition.

With a team of 30 people, Young Trendz now has warehouses in Telangana, Karnataka, Haryana, Maharashtra, and Tamil Nadu, and will soon open one in West Bengal.

Then the demand were increased in Delhi and west Bangal and 90 % delivery had been done before the promising date to deliver.

Young Trends was the first brand which introduced the couple clothing which is popular in China and Korean Markets.

The price of the Tshirt is between 250 -600 is affordable to the college going. They upload 3500 products all ecommerce market and 70 % revenue has been generated by there.

Parween said we are awarded for the one of the best brand in terms of performance during this year. We sold 25000 units just in 5 days.

In 2018 they set up their off line store and increased the category of the collection. But they don’t want to raise the funds.

They both partners started their career with non business background but now they are reading the book of 12 classes to know the trick of business and learning the Tamil language and learning the taxes.

With trendy and easy apparel compromising they are a large chunk of e-Commerce pie. They will growth in future more that today. Young Trends future is bright.
