The news came as a major relief for the people across the country. Indian Railways announced to partially resume some passenger trains that will travel to major stations,with selective stoppages, from May 12. The bookings for these trains will begin on May 11 from 4 PM onwards. However, only a pair of 15 trains, i.e. 30 journeys including the return trip, will start their operations. A railway official revealed that the trains will have only AC coaches, and the fare will be similar to that of Rajdhani Express trains.

Only asymptomatic people will be allowed to travel.
Indian Railways plans to start more passenger trains with reserved tickets. This will be done after reserving 20,000 coaches as isolation centers for COVID-19 patients and considering the possible requirement of 300 special Shramik trains for stranded migrants.
While the lockdown is till May 17, Indian Railways has taken an important decision to partially resume passenger trains.
