In the movie ‘Band Baja Baarat’ it is rightly said that Indians spend the most on weddings despite any market inflation or deflation. Indian weddings truly justify the term ‘big fat’. While marriage is sacred, some Indians don’t miss a chance celebrate with all that they have. There are some Indians who have made their wedding not just the talk of the town but the entire nation.

Here’s a list of 10 Indian weddings that were so expensive, they redefined the ‘big’ and ‘fat’ of Indian weddings.

1- Isha Ambani and Anand Piramal (Budget-₹15 Million)

Isha Ambani is the only daughter of India’s richest Industrialist, Mukesh Ambani. She tied the knot with Piramal scion and his childhood friend, Anand Piramal after a pre-wedding celebration in the city of lakes! Apart from every notable Bollywood celebrity being present, Hillary Clinton and Henry Travis were also in attendance. Not to forget Beyonce who performed at the wedding.

2- Sushanto Roy and Seemanto Roy (Budget-₹552 crore)

The weddings of Subrata Roy’s sons (the chairman of Sahara India Pariwar), Sushanto with Richa and Seemanto with Chandini took place at the Sahara Auditorium in Lucknow. Amitabh Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Kapil Dev, Anil Ambani, along with several other famous celebrities were present at the event.

3- Brahmani and Rajeev Reddy (Budget-₹550 crore)

Remember when demonetization struck us really hard in 2016? But seems, mining baron, Janardhan Reddy was hardly affected when he put up a wedding costing around 550 crores! Janardhan’s only daughter got married to the Hyderabad-based businessman, Vikram Deva Reddy. This wedding was an intense display of grandeur!

4- Srishti Mittal and Gulraj Behl (Budget-₹500 crore)

A Euro Extravaganza, the wedding of Shristi Mittal (niece of India’s steel magnate Lakshmi Mittal) and Gulraj Behl was held in Barcelona. Over 300 chefs, butlers and assistants were flown in from India and Thailand.The wedding cake was a six-tier construction weighing 60 kilos.

5- Vanisha Mittal and Amit Bhatia (Budget-₹350 crore)

Vanisha Mittal, daughter of one of the world’s richest men, Lakshmi Mittal, kicked off her wedding with banker financier Amit Bhatia in Paris. The wedding was held at the magnificent Vaux le Vicomte estate with Bollywood celebrities entertaining the guests with their performances. 

6- Lalit Tanwar and Yogita Jaunapuria (Budget-₹250 crore)

When Congress leader Kanwar Singh’s son, Lalit tied the knot with former independent MLA Sukhbir Singh Jaunapuria’s daughter Yogita, the groom got a chopper for tilak-shagun! Can you believe it? This 250 crore merger of two affluent families was graced by Bollywood celebrities.

7- Adel Sajan and Sana Khan (Budget-₹200 crore approx)

Adel Sajan is a director at Danube Group, a regional business conglomerate. He tied the know with Sana Khan in a four-day destination wedding on a luxury liner Costa Fascinosa! From Ethnic to Bahrain, every day had a different theme! That is why this one gala affair you would definitely wanna read about! 

8- Sanjay Hinduja and Anu Mahtani (Budget-₹140 crore approx)

The weddings made the headline when Sanjay Hinduja, the London-based scion of Britain’s wealthiest family, married designer Anu Mahtani in a lavish series of ceremonies in India! Dressed in Manish Malhotra ensembles and being entertained by none other than Jennifer Lopez this is one wedding we wish we could have been a part of. 

9- Vineeta Agarwal and Muqit Teja (Budget-₹130 crore)

UK based billionaire Pramod Agarwal’s daughter,Vineeta Agarwal got married to Mudit Teja in California. The flowers were specially imported from Paris and the major highlight was performance by Shakira, adding limelight to this extravagant affair!

10- Vikram Chatwal and Priya Sachdev (Budget-₹100 crore)

Priya Sachdev tied the knot with an American Hotelier, Vikram Chatwal in one luxurious affair! And this was nonetheless similar to what we witnessed! Except for the part that it was a really lit-up affair! By this we mean, three thousand candles were lit and a thousand kilos of flowers were used to decorate the wedding venue!
