A canal in Hazaribag,Jharkhand which took 42Yrs. to be built fall own just after 24 hours of inauguration.
In these years ,the cost of making the canal also hiked from a just ₹12 crore to ₹2,176 crore.
On Wednesday August 28 a part of the Konar River Irrigation Project in Hazaribagh was ruptured and it flooded agricultural fields across 35 villages in Bagodar block of Giridih district at around 8.30 PM.
Several rat holes were blamed by the authorities.They asserted that the same wouldn’t have happened had those holes been cemented on time.
Bagodar’s local MLA Nagendra Mahto has demanded compensation for the affected farmers. A panel of 3-members is set up by the government for the investigation and know-how of the loop-holes.
This gave an oppotunity to the oppositon. Congress member Alok Dubey stated: “The BJP government takes credit for other’s work or inaugurates half-baked projects like Konar. ”
The Konar project was rooted for years before it was took in reconsideration back in 2014. The reservoir that initially built in 1955 on the Konar river having a 357 km canal along with a 17 km tunnel. Only 44 km of the canal work could be finished and the tunnel work was complete.
