Kangana Ranaut is back grabbing the headlines for her upcoming film, ‘Thalaivi’, the biopic on the late Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa. The makers have unveiled the much-awaited first look poster and teaser of the film. We must say that Kangana looks absolutely unrecognizable in the get up of the political leader Jayalalithaa.
Soon after the poster was released, Kangana faced brutal trolling. Her critics slammed her for looking fake by allegedly using prosthetics to resemble the late Tamil Nadu chief minister.
While some mocked her for using several kilos of makeup, others compared her to Anil Kapoor from Badhai Ho Badhai. Some even felt that she looked more like Union Minister Smriti Irani than Jayalalithaa.
For the unversed, Kangana spent more than six months preparing for the titular role in the biopic film, ‘Thalaivi’. Besides taking Bharatnatyam’s lessons, she had to learn the Tamil language to get into the skin of her character.
Kangana recently admitted that she finds it difficult to learn the Tamil language. She added that she is learning the language as per demand of the film’s script. “I am finding it difficult to learn Tamil. This film will be released in Hindi and Tamil, so we will do something about it. Obviously, I have to mug up those dialogues because Tamil is not an easy language. Earlier, I was trying to learn the complete Tamil language because I have learned English as well, but now I am learning Tamil as per the demand of film’s script,” said Kangana.
She was also reported to have spent hours on prosthetic makeup sessions.
Thalaivi is being directed by A L Vijay. Apart from Kangana, only Arvind Swami’s name has been confirmed in the cast. The film is scheduled to release on June 26, 2020 in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu languages.
