Kangana Slams Gavaskar For His Remark & Accuses Anushka For Endorsing ‘Selective Feminism’

Former Indian skipper Sunil Gavaskar has drawn the ire of cricket fans on social media for his comment on Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma. The comment was understood to be made keeping the viral video in mind where Kohli was spotted playing cricket with Anushka at his Mumbai home during the lockdown. He said,

“Aur jab lockdown tha to sirf Anushka ki bowling ki practice ki unhone. Vo dikhayi di video me. (He has only faced Anushka’s bowling during the lockdown. That’s what we saw in the video).”

As Gavaskar received flak on social media, Anushka took to social media to slam Gavaskar for his ‘distasteful’ comment.

Now, reacting on the same, Kangana Ranaut called out Anushka Sharma for her ‘selective feminism’ and said that Anushka was ‘quiet’ when she was threatened by Shiv Sena’s Sanjay Raut.

Kangana tweeted, “#Anushka remained quiet when I was threatened and called Haramkhor but today the same misogyny coming to bite her, I condemn the fact that she was dragged in to cricket by #SunilGavaskar but selective feminism is equally uncool.”

Anushka, who is currently in Dubai with Kohli, took to Instagram to write, “That Mr Gavaskar, your comment is distasteful is a fact but I would for you to explain why you thought of making such a sweeping statement on a wife accusing her for her husband’s game? I’m sure over the years you have respected the private lives of every cricketer while commentating on the game. Don’t you should have equal amount of respect for me and us?”

“I am sure you can have many other words and sentences in your mind to use to comment on my husband’s performance from last night or are your words only relevant if you use my name in the process?” added Anushka, who has frequently been blamed for Kohli’s on-field performance.

“It’s 2020 and thing still don’t change for me. When will I stop getting dragged into cricket and stop being used to pass sweeping statements? Respected Mr. Gavaskar, you are a legend whose name stands tall in the gentleman’s game. Just wanted to tell you what I felt when I heard you say this,” Anushka concluded.
