MDH Spices owner Dharampal Gulati on Wednesday turned emotional as he paid his last respects to former external affairs minister Sushma Swaraj. A video is doing the rounds showing 96-year-old Mahashay Gulati crying inconsolably. While crying, the grief-struck MDH Spices owner sat at the feet of Sushma Swaraj’s body.
Besides political leaders, scores of her admirers thronged her residence and the BJP headquarters in the national capital where her mortal remains were kept.
Sushma Swaraj passed away at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) following a cardiac arrest on Tuesday night. She was 67.
Dressed in his trademark attire complete with red pagadi, the grief-struck owner of MDH spices made it a point to be present at Swaraj’s final rites and cried out with his arms spread towards the mortal remains of the BJP veteran.
Swaraj Kaushal, Sushma Swaraj’s husbandand daughter Bansuri, too broke down into tears as officers draped the tricolour on the body of the BJP stalwart. They saluted Sushma Swaraj struggling to control their tears.
Swaraj passed away on Tuesday night after she suffered a cardiac arrest. The mortal remains of the former external affairs minister Sushma Swaraj were consigned to flames on Wednesday at the Lodhi Road crematorium in New Delhi.
Hundreds of people, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP president Amit Shah and veteran party leader L K Advani bade her farewell.
President Ram Nath Kovind, PM Narendra Modi, Vice President Venkaiah Naidu visited her residence earlier to pay their condolences to the grieving family.
