‘Metro Man’ Sreedharan Writes to PM Against Delhi Govt’s Free Rides for Women, AAP Puts Out Counter

The previous head of Delhi Metro Rail Corporation said if the Delhi government is ‘so sharp’ to help ladies workers, it can pay the expense of their movement legitimately to them as opposed to making travel free on metro trains.

Thiruvananthapuram: Opposing the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government’s proposed free travel plot for ladies in Delhi Metro prepares, its previous boss E Sreedharan has asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi not to consent to the proposition as it would set “a disturbing priority”.

Sreedharan, prominently called ‘Metro Man’, said if the Delhi government is “so sharp” to help ladies workers, it can pay the expense of their movement legitimately to them as opposed to making travel free on metro trains. He is yet to get a reaction from the Prime Minister.

Prior this month, the Arvind Kejriwal government reported that it would make drive for ladies in open transports and metro prepares free.

Sreedharan told CNN-News 18 that the choice to not enable any admission to any segment of the general public was taken during his time as the overseeing executive, when the primary metro line was opened in 2002. Indeed, even the then head administrator Atal Bihar Vajpayee had purchased a ticket himself to make a trip to the station from where the metro’s first area was introduced, he included.

“I would all around truly demand you sir not to consent to the Delhi government’s proposition of free travel to women in the Metro,” Sreedharan composed. “Sixty-five percent of the expense was supported by Japan and the DMRC has consented to pay this back. When concession is given to one segment, an interest will be made for different segments like understudies, the old, malignant growth patients and afterward for MPs and MLAs. The DMRC must have greatest income, at exactly that point would it be able to pay back the credit and make it reasonable to all.”

Sreedharan said even the Delhi metro overseeing chief, when going on obligation, isn’t given any concession.

“Presently, if women are to be without given travel concession in Delhi Metro, it would set a disturbing priority to every single other metro in the nation. The contention of the Delhi government that the income misfortunes would be repaid to the DMRC is a poor comfort,” he included.

On whether he supposes this is the Delhi government’s turn to connect with ladies in front of races one year from now, Sreedharan stated, “Totally, it is evident to everybody. We should keep these things out of legislative issues. This ought not be utilized for getting cast a ballot. ”

The DMRC is a joint endeavor between the Center and the Delhi government, and one investor can’t take a one-sided choice to offer admission to one area of the network and drive the Delhi Metro in to “wastefulness and insolvency”, Sreedharan said.

Indeed, even officers and staff, including the overseeing chief of the DMRC, buy tickets when they travel on the metro on authority obligations, he stated, including that if the Delhi metro begins giving concession they should continue expanding the ticket charges at regular intervals.

Respecting Sreedharan’s reaction, AAP MLA Saurabh Bharadwaj took to Twitter to address his worries too. The Delhi Metro won’t endure lost Rs 1 through this plan,” he said. “The cash with the expectation of complimentary rides will be given to the Delhi Metro by the Delhi government. Where direct repayments are worried, there are a great deal of functional troubles. In what capacity will the administration which lady is voyaging what separate, on what days, on the off chance that she is taking the transport or the train — repaying this is a confounded methodology.”
