The previous head of Delhi Metro Rail Corporation said if the Delhi government is ‘so sharp’ to help ladies workers, it can pay the expense of their movement legitimately to them as opposed to making travel free on metro trains.
Thiruvananthapuram: Opposing the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government’s proposed free travel plot for ladies in Delhi Metro prepares, its previous boss E Sreedharan has asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi not to consent to the proposition as it would set “a disturbing priority”.
Sreedharan, prominently called ‘Metro Man’, said if the Delhi government is “so sharp” to help ladies workers, it can pay the expense of their movement legitimately to them as opposed to making travel free on metro trains. He is yet to get a reaction from the Prime Minister.
Prior this month, the Arvind Kejriwal government reported that it would make drive for ladies in open transports and metro prepares free.
Sreedharan told CNN-News 18 that the choice to not enable any admission to any segment of the general public was taken during his time as the overseeing executive, when the primary metro line was opened in 2002. Indeed, even the then head administrator Atal Bihar Vajpayee had purchased a ticket himself to make a trip to the station from where the metro’s first area was introduced, he included.
