Many Bollywood movies have been made with brilliance and they just get to be the blockbuster . In the exception to so many movies ,these movies have a special recognition in respect to the script , dialogue delivery , leads and much more than that .

Do you know the fact that many Bollywood movies have been selected for the Oscars which you would have never noticed or known .

  1. Saaransh (1984)

    Saaransh is Anupam Kher’s debut movie. The film was directed by Mahesh Bhatt. It was official submission for the Best Foreign Language Film category at the Oscars but not nominated.

2 Parinda( 1989)

Parinda was directed by Vidhu Vinod Chopra. The film stars Nana Patekar, Jackie Shroff, Anil Kapoor and Madhuri Dixit in the lead roles. It won two National Film Awards and five Filmfare Awards. It was official submission for the Best Foreign Language Film category at the Oscars but not nominated.

3. Bandit Queen (1994)

The movie was directed by Shekhar Kapur. It was based on the life of Phoolan Devi who joined a gang of bandits. The movie starred Seema Biswas as the title character. The film was selected as the official submission for the Best Foreign Language Film at the Oscars, but was not accepted as a nominee.

4. Hey Ram (2004)

Hey Ram was written, directed and produced by Kamal Haasan. He also acted as the protagonist in the movie. The film film simultaneously made in Tamil and Hindi languages. The film has garnered three National Film Awards and also official submission for the Best Foreign Language Film at the Oscars but was not nominated.

5 Devdas (2002)

Devdas was directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. The film stars Shah Rukh Khan, Madhuri Dixit and Aishwarya Rai in lead roles. The film was based on the 1917 Sharat Chandra Chattopadhyay’s novel Devdas. The movie was nominated for the BAFTA Award for Best Foreign Language Film and was India’s official submission at the Oscars for Best Foreign Language Film, but was not accepted as a nominee.

6 Rang De Basanti (2006)

Rang De Basanti was produced and directed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra. Aamir Khan, Siddharth Narayan, Soha Ali Khan, Kunal Kapoor, R Madhavan, Sharman Joshi, Atul Kulkarni and British actress Alice Patten were in the lead roles. It was official submission for the Best Foreign Language Film category at the Oscars but not nominated.

7 Eklavya – The Royal Guard (2007)

The film directed by Vidhu Vinod Chopra and it stars Amitabh Bachchan, Saif Ali Khan, Sharmila Tagore, Sanjay Dutt, Vidya Balan, Raima Sen, Jackie Shroff, Jimmy Shergill and Boman Irani in the lead roles. The film was India’s official entry to the Oscars to be considered for nomination in the Best Foreign Film category but was not accepted as a nominee.

The film produced and directed by Aamir Khan. The movie explores the life and imagination of an 8-year-old dyslexic child. It was official submission for the 2009 Academy Awards Best Foreign Film, but did not progress to the short-list.

It is written and directed by Anusha Rizvi. The movie also stars Nawazuddin Siddiqui, which many of you may not aware of. It was India’s official entry for the 83rd Academy Awards Best Foreign Film category, but was not accepted as a nominee.

Barfi based on the autistic issue, Anurag Basu’s film stars Ranbir Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra, and Ileana D’Cruz in the lead roles. The film was India’s official entry to the Oscars to be considered for nomination in the Best Foreign Film category but was not accepted as a nominee.
