Remember Kolkata’s Ranu Mondal? She Just Recorded Her First Song With Himesh Reshammiya!

Ranu Mondal, the woman who was seen singing Lata Mangeshkar’s evergreen song ‘ek pyaar ka nagmaa hai’ at a railway station in West Bengal, has recorded her first song for a Bollywood movie with music director Himesh Reshammiya.

Ranu Mondal’s rise to fame resembles the script of classic Bollywood rags to riches stories. The lady in her 50s caught the attention of the nation after a good samaritan Atindra Chakraborty, an engineer, filmed her singing at Ranaghat railway station and posted it on Facebook. Eminent singers, actors, and common men became instant admirers of her mellifluous voice.

The most inspiring thing was that before all this she used to saunter in her locality and depend on alms to make ends meet. Once her voice reached the shore of the city of dreams- Mumbai, offers started pouring in from TV channels and music directors.

A video, which was shared on social media by Himesh himself, shows ‘Ranu di’ recording a song “Teri Meri Kahani” for the upcoming ‘Happy Hardy and Heer’.

He captioned the video as, “Recorded Teri meri Kahani my new song from happy hardy and heer with the very talented ranu mondal who has a divine voice. All our dreams can come true if we have the courage to pursue them. A positive attitude can really make dreams come true, thanks for all your love and support.”

Upon asking about his experience recording with her, Reshammiya said, “Salman Bhai’s father Salim uncle once advised me that whenever in life I come across a talented person, I should never let that person go and keep him/her close to me. He advised me to help that person grow his/her talent. Today, I met Ranu Ji and I feel that she is blessed with divinity.”

“Her singing was mesmerizing and I could not stop myself from offering her the best I could. She has God’s gift which needs to be shared with the world and by singing in my upcoming movie, Happy Hardy and Heer, I think I will help her voice reach everyone. She also learnt the tune on the sets live and she will record the track immediately in a day or two and the song is titled Teri meri Kahani.”

As the door of opportunities has become ajar for Ranu Mondal, we only can hope that she will win many more accolades and enthrall us with her songs in coming days. For Ranu Mondal, it was talent that met luck and destiny.
