Sonam Insulted Indian Woman By Calling ‘2nd Class Citizens’, Twitter Backlashed Her Heavily

Sonam Kapoor is known for being vocal and voicing her opinion. The Neerja actress does not like mincing her words, even if it means ending up getting trolled.

Sonam recently graced the cover for the March issue of Harper’s Bazaar Arabia and while her photographs are beyond beautiful, it’s her statements that are causing a stir on social media. The actress, who last graced the big screen in The Zoya Factor, opened up about women empowerment.

The actress, in interaction with Harper’s Bazaar Arabia, was quoted as saying, “For me, female empowerment is very important, especially because I’m from a side of the world where women have always been second-class citizens.”

This did not go down well with netizens, and led to the actress getting trolled massively:

A user tweeted, “Not surprised seeing the replies to this tweet. When will this end!”

Sonam replied to his tweet.

On the work front, Sonam was last seen in The Zoya Factor alongside Dulquer Salmaan. Prior to that, the actress starred in Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga, co-starring Rajkummar Rao, Anil Kapoor and Juhi Chawla in key roles.
