Taapsee Pannu Takes A Jibe At People For Boycott Trend, Netizens Again Trolls Her Brutally

Bollywood actor Taapsee Pannu is known to be vocal about everything that she believes in. She never shies away from expressing her opinions and is not afraid to stake a stand for what she believes in. The star is very active on social media, and she does not mince words when giving her opinion on these platforms.

Recently, Taapsee took an indirect dig at how people have started trending #Boycott every time something new comes along which doesn’t align with their mindset. She wrote,

“Aajkal toh kuch hashtag boycott nahi hota toh lagta hai kuch toh gadhbadh hai. New Twitter wala India hai yeh. (Nowadays, if something is not met with the hashtag boycott, it seems like something is wrong. This is the new-age Twitter India.)”

Her tweet was indirectly referring to the Tanishq ad that was ridiculed heavily on social media.

Soon after Taapsee shared her opinions, some people slammed her and even reminded her of Thappad releasing again and even threatened to boycott her.

For the unversed, Tanishq, a popular jewellery brand, pulled its latest advertisement off air after vicious trolling on social media with #BoycottTanishq trending on Twitter. The advertisement featuring an interfaith baby shower, released last week, was targeted by a section on social media who felt it “promoted love jihad”.

Meanwhile, in a statement, Tanishq, which is a division of the Tata Group’s Titan Company, said, “The idea behind the Ekatvam campaign is to celebrate the coming together of people from different walks of life, local communities and families during these challenging times and celebrate the beauty of oneness. This film has stimulated divergent and severe reactions, contrary to its very objective. We are deeply saddened with the inadvertent stirring of emotions and withdraw this film keeping in mind the hurt sentiments and well being of our employees, partners, and store staff.”
