Irrfan Khan was a gem – a perfectly faceted and very rare solitaire – besides being equally priceless.
The untimely demise of the veteran actor has left everyone in shock. He was one of the finest actor in the Indian film industry. Irrfan who was born in Rajasthan, breathed his last on April 29, 2020 at an age of 53. He was admitted to the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital ICU in Mumbai for a colon infection on April 28. He is survived by his wife Sutapa Sikdar and his sons Babil and Ayan.
The actor had been under treatment since he was diagnosed with neuroendocrine tumour in 2018. On March 5, 2018, Irrfan revealed that he was suffering from ‘a rare disease’. He took to Twitter and wrote,
“Sometimes you wake up with a jolt with life shaking you up. The last fifteen days, my life has been a suspense story. Little had I known that my search for rare stories would make me find a rare disease. I have never given up and have always fought for my choices and always will. My family and friends are with me and we are working it out the best way possible.”
Irrfan Khan had come out with brilliant performances in films such as Paan Singh Tomar, The Lunchbox, Haider, Piku and Hindi Medium. He was also a part of Hollywood movies such as Life of Pi, Slumdog Millionaire, Inferno, Jurassic World and The Amazing Spider-Man. In 2011, he was also honoured with Padma Shri.
