Most students look for an internship after or during their graduation, as that experience, at times, helps them secure a job later. Most internships overwork the interns and pay them peanuts, if at all. But a Bengaluru-based startup is offering an internship which students could only dream of (and dream at).
Wakefit Innovations Pvt. Ltd. is looking for interns to sleep for 9 hours for 100 days, and is offering Rs 1 lakh to do so!
The ‘sleep internship’ is supposed to help the company monitor people’s sleeping patterns.
“We are looking to recruit the best sleepers in the country who are willing to go to any lengths to make sleep a priority in their lives. The Sleep Internship initiative aims to bring back the focus on sleep health by celebrating and applauding people who obsess about sleeping well,” Chaitanya Ramalingegowda, director and co-founder of Wakefit.co said.
“This initiative is another step towards making sleep an integral part of maintaining work-life balance in our lives,” added Ramalingegowda.
Under the category ‘what’s your job’ the website mentions, ‘Just sleep. For as long as you can, as deep as you can, and as competitively as you can. You just rest. Leave the rest to us’.
The dress code is obviously pajamas.
During the Internship, interns will be expected to sleep on the company-provided mattress for 9 hours for 100 days and 7 nights a week, at home itself.
Their sleeping pattern will be monitored using a sleep-tracker before and after using the company mattress.
However, unlike other companies which would require the interns to be on their laptops, the requirement here is the opposite. Interns will not be allowed to use laptop during their ‘work’ hours.
And if you do your “job” right, you’ll be rewarded a sum of Rs 1 Lakh as a stipend.
The skills needed for the internship? ‘A fanatical passion for sleep and an innate ability to fall asleep at the slightest given opportunity. An unmatched zeal for breaking your own sleep records, a mastery over this fine art, and of course, your favourite pajamas!’
Sone ka paisa milega, what else could a student want?!
