Songs have always been an integral part of Bollywood films. They make the movies interesting. Years later, it is the songs that the audience connects with the most. Now-a-days songs are released much before the movie to engage the audience. Some lyrics are so catchy that our filmmakers have used them as movie titles to latch on to their popularity.
We take a look at some great songs that also happen to share a title with a great film.
Dil Dhadakne Do
The title of the film is taken from another of Zoya Akhtar’s own film, ‘Zindagi Milegi Na Dobara’. Both the movies had one thing in common an ensemble cast.
Bachna Ae Haseeno
RD Burman’s Bachna ae haseeno was a groovy number from the film Hum Kisise Kum Naheen sung by Kishore Kumar and was one of the biggest hits of 1977. The song was used as the title for the Ranbir Kapoor starrer and a remixed version of it was used in the film as well.
Koi Mil Gaya
Rakesh Roshan’s ‘Koi Mil Gaya’ starring Hrithik Roshan and Preity Zinta took its name from a song of ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’ by the same name.
Om Shanti Om
Picturised on Rishi Kapoor and sung by Kishore Kumar, the song ‘Om Shanti Om’ from the film Karz was used as the title of the movie. Farah Khan’s Om Shanti Om was also based on the theme of reincarnation just like Karz and so she thought it best to name the movie after the song.
Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani
The movie is everyone’s favourite even after many years. The movie title was inspired from Kishore Kumar’s song Yeh jawani hai deewani from the rom com Jawani Deewani which was picturized on Randhir Kapoor and Jaya Bachchan.
The song, ‘Jai Ho’ still remains one of the most popular songs of AR Rahman from the Oscar-winning film ‘Slumdog Millionaire’. Later Sohail Khan took the inspiration for its title from this song.
Jab Tak Hai Jaan
Yash Chopra’s last movie was inspired from Lata Mangeshkar’s Jab tak hai jaan song from the blockbuster Sholay. The song famously had Hema Malini dancing barefoot on glass particles in front of the dacoits.
The Emraan Hashmi starrer movie got its name from the song of the same name from the movie Jism. The song was sung by KK.
Wajah Tum Ho
The movie took inspiration for its title from the song Wajah tum ho from Hate Sory 3, which was sung by Armaan Malik.
