On Saturday, a group of Opposition leaders, including Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, visited Kashmir to look for themselves and “decide what the ground situation in the state is”. On his way back to Delhi after being denied entry to Srinagar, Gandhi was confronted by a Kashmiri woman and a video of their encounter has gone viral.
Radhika Khera , Congress spokesperson,tweeted a ,showing a video of a woman breaking down while explaining the pain of Kashmiri people and the difficulties and continuous stress that they are in due to the lockdown in the valley after the abrogation of article 370.
Sitting by the window, Gandhi can be seen patiently listening to her and later getting up to console the woman. Other opposition leaders like Ghulam Nabi Azad, Anand Sharma, KC Venugopal were seen patiently listening to the woman’s ordeal.
The 12-member team had gone to Srinagar ,were not allowed to move out of the airport and was sent back in a flight to Delhi that evening. On return to the national capital, India.com reported Gandhi as saying, “We wanted to get a sense of what people are going through. But we were not allowed beyond the airport.”

A few days ago, Rahul Gandhi was invited by the J&K Governor Satya Pal Malik to visit the state. However, on Friday, a day before his departure to Srinagar, they were appealed to “cooperate” and not visit Srinagar by the J&K administration due to the security reasons and they had to return.
