8 Times Bollywood Actors Replaced Each Other in Movies For Bizarre Reasons

Some stars step in to play the same character after scheduling conflicts arise and the original actor has to leave. Sometimes the celebrity doesn’t agree with the script and leaves of their own accord. Other times, some set drama results in an actor being replaced.

Here are 8 actors who were, for one reason or another, were replaced in a movie.

Tabu replaced Rekha in Fitoor

Katrina Kaif and Aditya Roy Kapoor starrer Fitoor was based on Charles Dickens’ novel Great Expectation. Directed by Abhishek Kapoor, it also had Tabu playing a pivotal role – Begum Hazrat Jaan Mahal.

But did you all know that Rekha was supposed to play the character, and had even shot for the film before choosing to walk out mid-way? According to reports, Rekha decided to walk away, after she realised the character was very similar to her.

Supriya Pathak replaced Smriti Irani in All is Well

Smriti Irani who had a prominent role in Umesh Shukla’s directorial All Is Well bowed out of the film owing to her political commitments. Smriti, who is also the HRD Minister, had to complete her responsibilities because of which the shooting of the film suffered a delay. Hence, the actress decided to make an exit. And creators replaced her with Supriya Pathak.

Govinda’s cameo in Jagga Jasoos was not included

When stills of Govinda from Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif-starrer Jagga Jasoos were leaked online, fans were excited to see him back on screen. However, director Anurag Basu clarified at the film’s trailer launch that Govinda’s cameo was not a part of Jagga Jasoos’sfinal cut. 

John Abraham replaced Sushant Singh Rajput in Raw

Sushant was announced as the lead star in espionage thriller, Romeo Akbar Walter. The posters of the film were also released. However, a year later, John Abraham was announced as the lead star as Sushant had opted out of the film due to work commitment.

Shahid replaced Arjun Kapoor in Kabir Singh

Arjun Kapoor was considered for the title role in Kabir Singh by the producers, but since director Sandeep Reddy Vanga had committed to Shahid Kapoor, he backed out.

Harshvardhan Rane replaced Abhishek Bachchan in Paltan

Abhishek Bachchan was roped in for an important role in the movie but he chose to opt-out of the project just before the first schedule. Later, Harshvadhan Rane was approached to play the role in the movie.

Ayushmann replaced Harshvardhan Kapoor in Andhadhun

Directed by Sriram Raghavan, Andhadun marks Ayushmann Khurrana’s first 100-crore movie which also earned him a national award in the Best Actor category. However, it was not Ayushmann but Harshvardhan Kapoor who was originally approached for the role in ‘Andhadhun’.

But Harshvardhan left the project because of creative differences and Ayushmann was approached for the role in the movie.

Akshay Kumar replaced Randeep Hooda in Kesari

Randeep Hooda was working on a film inspired by the story of the Battle of Saragarhi, but it never made it to the silver screen. In 2016, director Rajkumar Santoshi had announced his film on the Battle of Saragarhi and Randeep was going to play Havildar Ishar Singh, the role that was played by Akshay Kumar in Kesari. Despite his dedication and hard work, the project wasn’t completed.

Akshay announced his film in 2018 and within a year, it was out in the theatres.
